What an SCA is
AWS describes an SCA as a multi-year commitment that gives a partner focused investment and support, with defined metrics and milestones.1 It starts from a multi-year business plan you agree with AWS before you sign. The support can include training, go-to-market help, joint marketing campaigns, co-sell, events and investment.2
AWS publishes no eligibility rules and no standard terms. Yours are in your agreement. Read the marketing section line by line before you plan anything.
Where the money sits now
SCA is its own funding program in Partner Central. It shows up as a subcategory on the funding dashboard, next to MDF.3 Since July 20, 2026, the Partner Central funding agent can draft SCA requests too.4
So SCA money follows the same rhythm as other funding: request, approval, activity, claim. A campaign that misses its claim window costs you money you already negotiated. The MDF guide covers the dates.
From commitment to campaign
This is how I turn an SCA into a marketing year.
- List every marketing commitment in the agreement, with the metric AWS will check.
- Give each one a quarter, an owner and a budget line, plus the funding request behind it.
- Decide where AWS will see the result: an ACE opportunity, a Marketplace private offer, a funding claim or a certification.
- Plan the next two quarters in detail. Keep the rest as outlines and revisit them at each review.
- Book the reviews with your AWS team now, for the whole year.
Step 3 matters most. If a result doesn't show up in an AWS system, AWS doesn't count it.
Keep a review rhythm
AWS publishes no required cadence. In one AWS case study, the partner tracks every workstream on a shared dashboard with one owner each, reviews KPIs monthly, and meets AWS every quarter, half year and year.1
Copy that rhythm. A monthly check inside your team catches a slipping campaign while there is still time to fund a replacement.
