What I collect, why and how
I collect only what I need for the purpose I name at the moment I ask. The site is meant for businesses and is not directed at children.
| What | When | Why | GDPR basis (EU or UK only) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, work email, company, role, your message | You fill in the contact or booking form | To answer you and, if you ask, prepare a call or a quote | Steps before a contract |

| Work email, company, AWS tier | You request the Tracker or the Playbook | To send what you asked for | Consent |
| Work email | You subscribe to the newsletter | To send the newsletter | Consent |
| Pages viewed, referrer, browser, approximate location from your IP address | Only if you accept Analytics cookies | To learn which pages help partners | Consent |

| Server logs: IP address, browser, time of visit | Every visit, kept by the host | Security and keeping the site running | Legitimate interest |
How I collect it: through the forms on this site, through cookies and similar tools (only the strictly necessary ones run before you choose), and directly from you by email or on a call. I do not buy contact lists.
I do not make decisions about you based only on automated processing.
Your consent
I ask for each consent on its own, in plain words, for one purpose at a time. A consent is never bundled with the terms or with another request, and no box is ticked for you.
Tracking is off until you turn it on. Analytics and Marketing cookies, and any other tool that could identify, locate or profile you, stay off until you choose to activate them in the cookie banner. Accept all and Reject all are shown with equal weight, and closing the banner counts as a refusal. The Cookie policy lists each cookie, who sets it and how long it lasts.
You can withdraw a consent at any time, as easily as you gave it:
- Cookies: the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
- Emails: the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Anything else: write to privacy@channelcmo.com.
Withdrawing stops future use. It does not undo what was done lawfully before.
Who I share it with, and where it goes
I do not sell or rent personal information.
I share it only with the service providers that run this site and my business, under a written contract that limits them to my instructions and requires them to protect it:
| Provider | What it does | Where data may be stored |
|---|---|---|
| [Website host] | Hosts the site and its server logs | [Country] |
| [Email and newsletter platform] | Sends replies, downloads and the newsletter | [Country] |
| [Form or booking tool] | Runs the contact and booking forms | [Country] |
| Google Analytics 4 | Site statistics, only if you accept Analytics | United States |
| LinkedIn Insight Tag, Google Ads | Campaign measurement, only if you accept Marketing | United States |
| [Google Workspace or other] | Email and file storage | [Country] |
Some of these providers store information outside Quebec, including in the United States. Before any information leaves Quebec, I assess whether it will be adequately protected there and put the protections in a written agreement. Information held in another country can be accessed by that country's courts, police and national security authorities under its laws.
I may also disclose information when the law requires it, or, if the business is sold or merged, to the buyer under an agreement that keeps it protected and limited to the same purposes.
How long I keep it, and how I protect it
| Information | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that do not lead to a contract | [24] months after our last exchange |
| Client records and invoices | The contract, then as long as tax law requires (currently six years after the end of the tax year) |
| Score answers | [24] months after you take the score |
| Newsletter address | Until you unsubscribe |
| Proof of your consent | [3] years after you withdraw it, to answer any complaint |
| Analytics data | [14] months, set in Google Analytics |
| Server logs | [Host default, for example 30 days] |
When a period ends, I destroy the information or anonymize it following generally accepted best practices.
Access is limited to me and to the providers listed above. Accounts use strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and the site uses HTTPS.
If a confidentiality incident happens, I act at once to reduce the risk, record it in my incident register and keep that record for at least five years. If there is a risk of serious injury, I notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people affected promptly.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- Give you access to the personal information I hold about you.
- Correct it if it is wrong, incomplete or out of date.
- Withdraw a consent you gave.
- Stop sharing it, or remove links to it, where it causes you harm.
- Send it to you or to another organization in a structured, commonly used format.
- Explain how a tool that identifies, locates or profiles you works, and how to turn it off.
If you are in the EU or the UK, you can also ask me to erase it, limit its use, or stop using it, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
How to ask: write to privacy@channelcmo.com or to 216 rue des Genêts, Rosemère, Quebec J7A 4K5, Canada, and say what you want. I may ask you to confirm who you are. I reply in writing within 30 days. Access is free; I may charge only a reasonable fee for copies, and I will tell you the amount first. If I refuse, I explain why and tell you how to challenge the decision.
Complaints: write to me first. You can also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, including to have a refusal reviewed within 30 days of my answer, or of the end of my 30 days if I did not reply. For a matter outside Quebec, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Emails, changes and contact
Emails. I send marketing emails only with your consent: express consent through an unticked box you check yourself, or implied consent where Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) allows it, for example within two years of a purchase or six months of an enquiry. Every email names Channel CMO and Marie Scultore, gives my mailing address and a way to reach me, and has a free unsubscribe link that works for at least 60 days. I act on an unsubscribe within 10 business days. I keep a record of when, how and for what you agreed.
Changes. When I update this policy, I post the new version here with its date. If a change is significant, I tell you by email or on the site before it applies, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
Contact. Marie Scultore, person in charge of the protection of personal information, privacy@channelcmo.com, 216 rue des Genêts, Rosemère, Quebec J7A 4K5, Canada.
